Ghosting a PC

  1. Move the user's documents, favorites and other necessary files to their Home directory (check Mozilla to verify).

  2. Start a TSM backup. See TSM Clients: Windows if needed.

  3. Write down the progams used. A screenshot of the desktop and startmenu is helpful.

  4. Start the GhostCast Server program on ghostsvr01.cns.ufl.edu located in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Ghost\GhostSrv.exe. Enter the session name and select Restore Image. Browse to the Image File you wish to use. Click More Options , set Client Count to 1 and Click Accept Clients.

  5. Reboot the PC and boot from a Ghost disk.

  6. Select GhostCast and then Unicast from the menu. Enter the active session name.

  7. Login as local Administrator and change the computer's name.

  8. Run all the current Windows updates.

  9. Set the correct Administrator password.

  10. Reinstall the required programs.

  11. Ensure the latest version of the Novell client is installed.

  12. Setup local and network printers.

  13. Enable Remote Desktop.

  14. Have the user log back in and move appropriate documents and files back from their Home directory.

  15. If at Telecomm, setup Outlook for Exchange.

  16. Configure TSM. The server for CNS is tsm-int.cns.ufl.edu:1610. See TSM Clients: Windows if needed.
