Moving DR media
When DR media (Offsite tapes) move from one stage to another in their Life Cycle, these movements need to be recorded in the TSM server that owns the tapes. Many of these transitions happen automatically, but for some of them operator intervention is necessary. This document details this process, known as "Moving DR Media".
For this procedure, the following definitions apply:
- VOLSER
The name of the tape you wish to move.
- FROMSTATE
The DR Media state the tape is in now. For CNS offsite processing, this will be:
Outgoing:
NOTMOUNTABLE
Incoming:
VAULTRETRIEVE
- TOSTATE
The DR Media state to which you want to move the tape. For CNS Offsite processing, this will be:
Outgoing:
VAULT
Incoming:
ONSITERETRIEVE
- SERVER
The TSM Server instance that owns the tape. See the system structure document if you're unsure.
